Watching the latest Watchmen trailer in a virtual Home movie theater is one thing. But when it comes to paid-for advertising content in Sony's online community, were you expecting to see something of a scope that's a little closer to, say, super villainy? Then maybe an entire Red Bull island will fit the bill.

Speaking to the ad trade site Brand Republic (via Gamasutra), Red Bull UK brand marketing manager John Beasley explained his company's intentions to become the first major sponsor to have in-game content in Home. This will include building an entire Red Bull-themed virtual island that players can explore, and where they can also compete in airplane races based on Red Bull's real-life "Red Bull Air Race" competition.

"The game gave us the first opportunity to recreate in the gaming world what we try to do in the real world, which is to facilitate interaction, to give people stories, memories, experiences and a really good opportunity to interact with the brand," Beasley said. "It's an easy environment for brands to take that first step into gaming." Unspecified by Beasley is whether in-game Red Bull will have the same delicious, rancid-candy-apple taste as real-life Red Bull does.
